New York, New York
Church of St. Paul the Apostle
Great trip and great fights. Two of GR's best Thai fighters Ben "Thundercat" Parks and Aaron "Juice" Veverka both got to compete in the Big Apple. Ben & Aaron were accompianed by corner men and women Mike, Melissa, and Jason. Before we talk about the fights I would like to give a brief description of some of the fun stuff we got to do. On the morning of the fights prior to weigh ins we took a ferry to see the Statue of Liberty, walked down Wall Street, and checked out the memorial set up at Ground Zero. Other than myself it was everybody else's first time in NYC. Okay enough of this lets get on to the fights. Both Ben and Juice fought some tough ripped quality competion and they both did awesome. Unfortunetly the fights were left in the judges hands and when you are the outsider you must totally dominate or KO your opponent to beat a hometown boy. Ben and Juice both lost decisions. Bens fight was not one sided by any means as he gave just as good as he got and Juice's fights he should have won as I was sure he had it. Bottome line is the promoter was extremely happy with our performances and called me the next day when I got home to thank us and invite us back for their next show. Look for Ben & Juice to turn Pro next year and this was just some more good experience for them to have.Written by:Jason Dent
