Xtreme Combat Cage Fighting "The Revenge"

Monterrey, Mexico

Donny Walker and Jason Dent travelled south of the border on September 29, 2007 to represent Team Griffon-Rawl at Xtreme Combat Cage Fighting in Monterrey, Mexico. Both Jason and Donny both faced Mexican fighters on their home turf. What follows is a brief recap of the matches.Donny Walker fought at 150lbs against Yaotzin Meza and for two rounds it was an all out war with each getting the better of the other and then the tides would turn again. Early in the third round, Donny was in trouble but used his experience to keep calm and defended. In a somewhat controversial decision, the referee called a stop to the contest giving Meza a TKO victory. Jason was fighting at 160lbs against Israel Giron Melchor. Everything Jason heard leading to the fight was Israel was a Gracie Jiu-Jitsu disciple and expected a fight on the ground. However, seconds into round one Israel threw a vicious head kick that definetley caught Jason off guard. The first round went back and forth and it was a war throughout round one. Round 2 had some interesting tactics by Israel and had Jason against the cage where Jason was able to manuever for a Guillotine choke. Experience paid off as Jason made sure the choke was ready to go before pulling to guard position to finish. Half way down to guard Israel was tapping and Jason earned a victory via submission. The guys went "old school" for this contest as they were the only two to make the trip. Each was the other's hand wrap man, warm up man, corner man and coach.Written by:John Strmac
